Beton Ltd.: Hoppla, Wir Leben. The Lost Art of Self‑Resignation

The final act of the Beton Ltd.’s German cycle, entitled Hoppla, wir leben. The Lost Art of Self‑resignation, is a "per-formation". The collective defines the difference between a performance and a per-formation as a deliberate decision to reduce, as a leap into unambiguity, one could even say into gesture. In terms of content and form, a per-formation actualizes itself in the question that originates in the detection of the moment, in the analysis of the decade‑long history of the collective and the desire to return to society the long‑lost art of the honourable resignation. In the Old Power Station, the per-formation will be on display for 29 hours, and will be auto‑interpreted through the particular views of Toni Soprano Meneglejte, Branko Jordan, Primož Bezjak, Katarina Stegnar and 0045, all members of the former Beton Ltd. collective.

Marko Bulc: First Altruistic Performance

The First Altruistic Performance isbased on the author’s frustration and dissatisfaction with most of the so‑called artivistic projects (including his own), which exploit unfortunate, unjust, illegal, and similar miserable situations of the other and the others for self‑promotion and to strengthen their artistic ego, while being for the most part self‑sufficiently confined within the boundaries of the art system.
